Chartres

Today is our second day in Chartres. Yesterday we arrived with a problem. Dave had a broken chain in Gambais. He went about 40 k downhill and applying light pressure on the chain which we were able to fix enough for Dave to bike with. We hoped for a new chain in the next town, but that turned out to be Chartres. We met a Dutch couple in Maintenon who helped us again and arrived in Chartres at 7:00 PM.

So far we met Rinus & Riet from Breda, Wim from Velserbroek, Wim & Eugenie from Breda, an unnamed couple from Friesland, an unnamed solo rider from Friesland, and the couple from Horn, Limburg in the sag wagon. Today we met 3 more Dutchmen, 2 from Haarlem who liked Dave's bike, and one from Breda. All Dutch, and Dave is starting to think that only Dutch ride this trip!

The stamps have been fun. Sometimes we are taken into the sacristy to get the stamp and sometimes to the town hall. Now I am in the youth hostel on the French keyboard. Not easy! I keep hitting q instread of a.
